Ballot Measures-

69 NO

This is some wisdom from our regional California Republican Party committee member Heather Olbernolte.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY PROPOSITION 69! It is a wolf in sheep’s clothing! Vote No on 69! This is part of the SB1 (Gas Tax) vote. This is included as a constitutional amendment so that they could raise the state budget! They do not need this vote to earmark the funds. First, it says that the gas tax money can only be spent on “transportation” funding. We know that they can distort any projects they want to fit this definition- urban parks are considered “transportation funding” because they mitigate the damage done to the environment by roads. High speed rail is also considered “transportation funding”. As they say, the big print giveth and the small print taketh away. This proposition will EXEMPT the $5.2 BILLION dollars a year from the annual Gann limit calculations. In the 70’s, we passed the Gann limit proposition to keep government from growing too big. Each year, every government board has to do a Gann limit calculation to make sure their budget is growing within the limits. California is very close to exceeding the Gann limit, so this proposition EXEMPTS the gas tax money from the calculation! It is VERY deceptive and we need to let people know.
